Future Leaders Take the Stage for America 250 at National Civics Bee in Yorba Linda at the Nixon Library

Presented in partnership between the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce, and the Richard Nixon Foundation

YORBA LINDA, CA— April 6, 2026– As the nation marks its 250th anniversary, the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce, and the Richard Nixon Foundation will host a regional competition of The National Civics Bee® on April 30, 2026, at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda, California.

Presented in partnership with the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce Foundation and the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce, the competition will bring together local 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students to showcase their civics knowledge and compete for recognition and cash prizes. The top three finalists will advance to the California State Competition at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and compete for a trip to Washington, D.C., to participate in the National Civics Bee finals for the chance to win the grand prize of $100,000.

President Nixon believed deeply in instilling in young people a faith in the American Dream. Today, the U.S. Civics Bee, an initiative of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, carries that vision forward, inspiring a new generation to embrace the fundamental ideals that define our nation. Held during the nation’s semiquincentennial, the year’s event reflects the spirit of America 250 by encouraging civic engagement and fostering a deeper understanding of the responsibilities of citizenship among young Americans.

The Nixon Library hosted California’s inaugural Civics Bee competition in 2025. This year, the first state winner, Arlo Fravien, will return to share reflections on his experience, noting that the competition “was a unique opportunity to learn more about how our government works,” and that it “motivated me to better my community and taught me how public-private partnerships can be important to launching an idea.”

The event begins at 6:00 PM. Attendance is free, though advanced registration is encouraged. Click here to register.

This year’s Civics Bee is a centerpiece of the Richard Nixon Foundation’s America 250 programming. This yearlong celebration of the nation’s founding includes the special exhibit America 250: A More Perfect Union and the America 250: Renewing the Dream event series, which invite Americans to reflect on the ideals, progress, and promise that define the nation at 250 years.
